I find some staircases quite interesting and enjoy finding unusual angles and ways to portray them. These were taken in a variety of places, from a disused lighthouse in Northumberland to a free-standing helix in the Louvre in Paris. Also included are staircases in Tate St Ives, in Somerset House in London, a London hotel and a London department store.

I liked the ornate handrail and the complementary blue and yellow colours, and felt that the best way to frame this subject was to tilt the camera to include what I wanted without having too much unwanted detail in the lower foreground.
